What it is

Documented Deficiency Only

IV iron delivers iron directly into the bloodstream through a peripheral vein, bypassing the digestive tract entirely. This route is used clinically when oral iron hasn't been tolerated or when gastrointestinal absorption is a limiting factor for oral dosing. Because iron is entering the bloodstream directly rather than being absorbed gradually through the gut, every infusion is administered with clinical monitoring to manage the risk of iron overload.

What's included

Every Iron IV appointment.

Each Iron IV appointment includes the following.

  • IV iron, dosed according to your lab-confirmed deficiency and your clinician's assessment
  • Administration through a peripheral IV line directly into the bloodstream
  • Infusion time set by your treating clinician and based on your prescribed dose
  • Continuous monitoring throughout the infusion
  • In-home delivery within the Flagstaff service area

Who it's for

Honestly framed.

Good fit

  • Patients with iron deficiency confirmed by recent bloodwork, from MEND or another provider
  • Patients who haven't tolerated oral iron supplements
  • Patients whose GI absorption may be limiting how well oral iron works
  • Patients whose labs indicate a deficit likely to require more than a single round of oral supplementation

Not appropriate if

  • Not appropriate without recent labs confirming an iron deficiency — this is the one advanced infusion that requires documentation before booking
  • Not appropriate for patients with a history of iron overload or hemochromatosis without provider clearance
  • Not a substitute for identifying and addressing the underlying cause of the deficiency

What to expect

In-home, anywhere in Flagstaff.

MEND delivers this infusion in-home, anywhere within the Flagstaff service area. Before your appointment, your clinician reviews your labs to confirm the infusion is appropriate and to get a sense of how many sessions your case is likely to require.

During the visit, IV iron is administered through a peripheral line while you're monitored for the full duration of the infusion. Most patients are scheduled for a series of appointments rather than a single visit; your clinician determines the number based on your labs. You can resume normal activity afterward, and your clinician will let you know if follow-up labs are needed.

Pricing

$4995-session package $2,000

A single Iron IV infusion is $499. Because significant iron deficits are often addressed across multiple sessions, a 5-infusion package is available for $2,000 — a $495 savings over paying per visit.

Members receive 10% off advanced infusions — both Hormone & Weight Loss Program and Concierge Primary Care. Not eligible for the Concierge included annual IV.

Labs

Why this one requires labs.

Because IV iron carries a real risk of overload if given without cause, this is the one advanced infusion at MEND that requires labs before you can book. We need documentation of an actual iron deficiency — from bloodwork drawn at MEND or from another provider — before scheduling your first infusion. If you don't have recent labs on hand, ask us about ordering them; we're not able to administer IV iron without first confirming the deficiency it's meant to address.

FAQ

Common Questions

IV iron is reserved for documented iron deficiency, and it carries a real risk of iron overload if given without cause. Because of that, this is the one advanced infusion at MEND that requires recent labs — either drawn at MEND or from another provider — before we'll schedule your first appointment.

Yes. We accept recent bloodwork from any licensed provider as long as it documents an iron deficiency. If you don't have recent labs, ask us about ordering them before you book.

IV iron is delivered directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract entirely. That route is used clinically when oral iron hasn't been tolerated or when GI absorption is a limiting factor — your clinician can walk through whether that applies to you.

The number of sessions is based on the size of the deficit shown in your labs and your clinician's assessment — significant deficits are often addressed across a series of visits rather than one.

IV iron is a standard treatment for documented deficiency, but it isn't risk-free — overload is a real concern, which is why every infusion is given under direct clinical monitoring and why we require labs beforehand rather than treating on symptoms alone.

MEND delivers this infusion in-home, anywhere within the Flagstaff service area. You don't need to come into an office.

Infusion time depends on your prescribed dose and is set by your treating clinician. Your appointment includes monitoring for the full length of the infusion, so plan for the visit to take some time beyond the infusion itself.
